Dead End of Plagiarism [INFOGRAPHIC]

Consequences of plagiarismPlagiarism is on the rise. And experts say that by 2014 level of plagiarism on the internet will exceed 63%.

Online plagiarism is everywhere – Audio, video, web-data, social media etc. Sometimes it feels like crappers are gradually taking charge of the whole online world.

The word plagiarism is derived from a Latin word called  plagiarius - means kidnapper, or someone stealing someone else’s work.

In academics and journalism plagiarism is taken very seriously and there are provisions of strong disciplinary measures against it. Unintentional plagiarism by not giving appropriate citation to the original source may be due to lack of knowledge. But it’s also considered crime.

Take for example – the blogging world. There are numerous WordPress Plugins available which automatically post articles from the blog, without even writing a line (by spinning articles). Novice bloggers are also not far behind. They also never hesitate to copy and paste content from other sources, without thinking about the final consequences.

Below is an INFOGRAPHIC about plagiarism, prepared by plagtracker.com which tells a story of 2 lives and reminds us “how costly plagiarism can be.”

Always remember – Life of a plagiarist may be adventurous, but it’s short lived and costs heavily.

  4. The content spinner software must be banned, as the stolen contents are doing business with some good backlinks on their site, while the original writers are losing their visitors instead of great efforts. There must be a good and fast solution for that.

  6. Thanks for sharing the infographic Nandita. Coming to my experience as a blogger: it was not one, but many bloggers who copied or reproduced my articles or my site’s designs. Others copy and writers suffer…… :(

  7. Plagiarism is what I called one of the modern crimes. If not for technology, I would not know that indeed one of our Senators here in my country are copying his speech from well-known politicians. He eventually got caught and was aske d to publicly apologize for what he did. Good for him he wasn’t sued.
