There are lot of talks going on about Facebook introducing a search engine for its users.
Will it be a traditional search engine, or something unique?
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed in an interview with former editor of TechCrunch, Mike Arrington, on Sep 11, 2012.
He said, Facebook is doing a billion searches everyday. And, the search performed are mostly People Search, people searching for other people.
He said, search engines are evolving, and there is a big opportunity out there when people searches for brand. Of course, the Facebook search engine will not be a traditional search engine, but it will be definitely beyond People Search.
Zuckerberg is also optimistic about how Facebook is better positioned to answer lot of questions people have. He also described how search engines work by taking key words, do some magic and return a set of relevant answers.
He told “We have a team working on search” and “At some point we’ll do it.” But, there is nothing specific to announce, as of now.
He also talked about – How Facebook is interested to incorporate its products in mobile devices, instead of making a Facebook Mobile. He is also hopeful about the mobile Ad revenue surpassing the desktop in the coming years.

If its become true than facebook will become the great competitor of Google Inc. As facebook beats Google’s every social websites including orkut or Google+.

It looks like Facebook search engine can be great. With its hundreds of millions viewers out there everyday, there’s a chance it could be a big hit to the population.
