Panda Update 25: Google’s Final Nail In the Coffin

Panda 25Google is all set to roll out Panda update 25 within few days. In fact it’s already due for its monthly roll out.

The last Panda algorithm update 24 was on Jan 22, 2013, which affected 1.2% of English search queries worldwide.

Initially launched on 24th Feb, 2011, this algorithm is also know as ‘Farmer Update’ because it was initially meant for content farms. Content farms are infamous for producing high quantity of low quality content for more page views, and sometimes these thin content get quite higher ranks in Google search.

In an attempt to provide best possible user experience to online searchers, Google periodically runs the Panda Update to demote low quality content or thin content in SERPs. Spammy activities like keyword stuffing and duplicate content also come under Panda scanner.

Losers Are Still Loosing…

Big websites who were badly hit by Panda algorithm during the initial launch are still loosing. Few have changed their business model completely, and few even completely shut their shops.

Very few sites have actually recovered to their pre-panda stage. Sites like EZineArticles.com, Squidoo.com, HubPages.com, About.com are the greatest losers, and they are still struggling to find out ways and means to become free from Panda’s claw.

If you closely look at the business model of these great losers, they primarily thrive on user-generated content. On most of the occasions user-generated content are not so in-depth and thin in nature, which, Google doesn’t like.

WordPress Blogs and Google Panda

Most of the bloggers blog for fun, or to maintain an ongoing diary. So, the content on their blogs are thin in nature and perfect candidates for Panda.

But there are great blogs with tons of quality content, which provide great value to their readers but still affected by Google Panda. Why these innocent blogs are hit by Panda?

Simple. It’s because of auto duplicate content.

Many a times WordPress Software produce duplicate content on its own. It produces links (URLs) of tags, categories, pagination and even links for individual images and comments. As, these URLs don’t provide enough value to the online searchers, Google Panda hit these WordPress blogs. And, for a novice blogger it’s not an easy task to detect and fix all the auto-generated duplicate content.

Google Panda – Present Scenario

Since its inception Google Panda has been hitting millions of websites and blogs. The Panda algorithm updates are coming on monthly intervals these days.

The way Panda is hitting sites left-right-and-center, its seems like it has come to an end. The major toxic content or thin content are out of the Google Box now. So, in coming days, Google might consider to blend the thin content fighting algorithm with its regular search engine ranking signals (at present Google uses >200 signals for content ranking).

How many times Google will update their algorithm. They know very well that this affects the traffic very badly and even than they update it. Google should find a way to update their algorithm without affecting the traffic.
GOOGLE, Please have mercy on us.
